2018 – in progress

In 2014 the revolution broke out in Kiev, Ukraine. The country wants to take a more western course. In the Netherlands, the population voted against a European trade agreement with Ukraine through a referendum. The trade agreement also consisted of agreements on human rights for LGBT+ people. It is difficult to grow up in a country who is still searching for their own identity. A lot of people in Ukraine try to ignore the discussion about LGBT rights or don’t want to see it. On the other hand there are many traditions in Ukraine that are difficult to break through.

Homosexuality can damage the appearance of your family, there is little knowledge about the subject and in the meantime a lot of pressure is being exerted by extremely nationalistic and Christian groups that are against homosexuality.

Although the political opinions are slightly moving, also because Ukraine want to become part of the European Union.
